Last night I stopped early, I was tired, ate my last pieces of sushi and went to sleep, 2 meters from the track.
I got up quite early (around 1 o’clock) and got a long hike-a-bike over the Redington Pass to reach the picnic area at the Catalina Highway. I soon as I saw the rest rooms … STOP! … sleeping mat & sleeping bag and sleep until 7 o’clock.
Unfortunately … the sound is not OK :-(
The first part of the track was again hike-a-bike, but mostly bike and then a very scenic asphalt road to Summerhaven, quite some kilometers but I didn’t care. Finally, made some good progress.

One of the most brutal hike-a-bike parts of the AZT. I really got frustrated on that part, hike-a-bike, thorns, rocks, bushes, burned trees, on the bike, of the bike, … and a very hard descent. We left around 11 o’clock AM in Summerhaven and made it to the gas station of Oracle just before sunset … about 30 miles.
Made it to Oracle, went a couple of miles off route, to get food and water. The next part would be very long ….
